More about the Feadship De Vries Lentsch
The Gentlemans Yacht "Thalia" is available for a new enthusiast as owner.
This beautiful design by Mr. H.W. de Voogt and built at the yard "Het Fort" of de Vries Lentsch with building number 843 at Nieuwendam can therefore call herself a real Feadship.
Expertly restored, complete history available and still perfectly maintained.
The vessel is designed for making large trips offshore, while the dimensions are chosen in such a way that also the journey inland through the French canals to the Riviera can be made.
Photos of the interior will follow soon.
A yacht with a unique and documented history
The history of the Thalia reads like a journey through time:
1934 - Launched as "Timonia" for the proud owner Mr. D.J. Smits
1935-1940 - Extensive voyages to Southern Europe
1941 - Confiscated during World War II and deployed as a coast guard ship from the island of Sylt
1947 - Back in civilian service as "Elsa", owned by Mr. D.J. Smits. W. Huysman of Cacaofabriek De Zaan
1950 - Major refit under the direction of De Voogt (o.a. wheelhouse, railing and engines renewed)
Years'50-'70 - In the years that followed she was a very well known yacht in the Zaan region, there was a lot of business done on board about the Cacaofabriek with the Americans
1975 - Acquisition by family Verloop, renamed "Marie José", the family made a trip with her to Mallorca.
1990 - Sold to family Niemeyer, name "Gratia"
2000 - Sold to Italian family Antonori; this family has great plans for this beautiful ship and tackles a refit big time. The entire plane is renewed, the floors aft, many bow plates port and starboard, completely new hull sandblasted and much more and all that at the famous Balk yard in Elburg. Then the family came to the conclusion that maybe she was too small after all and work on the completely stripped yacht was halted and she spent ten years inside the shed at Balk.
2000-2010 - Project halted, ship stored inside for a long time
2020 - Purchase by current owner, Roode family, renamed "Thalia". With fortunately still many original parts, the restoration of this unique Feadship begins.
About the life of the gentlemans yacht Thalia is very much documentation and drawings, reports and photos available for your perusal . Also about the last fifteen years of refit / restoration everything is present.
